Pawly @ Startup Weekend

How it all began…

Startup Weekend is a weekend long 54 hour frenzy, where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs from various backgrounds come together to form a team and develop, design, and receive potential market validation of their ideas. All from scratch. At the end of the weekend, teams present their ideas in front of local entrepreneurial leaders for valuable feedback and to potentially launch a startup. More information can be found here.

Pawly conceptualized during Startup Weekend as a robot equipped with a camera that was mobile. After further analysis, we decided to target this product to consumers, more specifically to the pet industry (we all happen to love pets!).

In the 54-hour span, our engineers programmed and developed a functioning prototype!

We designed and carved Pawly out of wood and 3D printed the wheels. Ta-da!

On the last day of the event, the teams had to present their products. Pawly having a mind of its own, refused to move. However, the camera still worked!

Alas, it was time to relax. All the teams went to the local bar and grabbed a few drinks (Pawly loves to drink too). At the bar, Startup Weekend announced the winners of the event. Pawly was selected as the runner-up for the Startup Weekend! Awesome! By placing at the top, we qualified to participate in the Global Startup Battle.

Startup Weekend has been truly incredible. Everyone was so supportive and inspiring. Definitely a great learning experience. Ultimately, we were able to take an idea from scratch and make it into a reality! Next step, Global Startup Battle!
